Payroll salary can be entered by creating an income account and setting the Income Type to Payroll. One thing to note is that inStream is not a cash flow ledger or a budgeting tool. You should only include a client's payroll salary in a plan if it is being used to meet their goals. It is generally preferable to use contributions for investment accounts to model your client's savings.
